DISNEY DAY 1- ANIMAL KINGDOM & EPCOT

The first day of our Disney trip, we started the day at Animal Kingdom and ended the day at Epcot.  Animal Kingdom opened an hour early, so we left our hotel around 7:30 AM.  Because we got to the park right when it opened, we got to do everything we wanted and then some.  Also, there were NO lines!!!  The boys were just a little confused & had no clue how much fun they were about to have!
The Tree of Life is just so cool.  Cool was our buzz word for Disney.  I bet we said it over 100 times!

We headed straight to Africa and rode the Kilimanjaro Safari.  It was Rudy’s favorite thing at Disney!  The safari ride is a MUST at Animal Kingdom.

After the safari ride, the adults rode Expedition Everest.  This was my favorite ride!  We used rider swap because the kids weren’t tall enough to ride, though I’m quite sure they would have loved it!  It was the smoothest roller coaster I’ve ever rode.
We may or may not have bought a $12 bubble gun to keep the boys happy and in their strollers:)

Next, we headed to Buddy's favorite- Dinoland!  I'm pretty sure he could have stayed there all day!  He LOVED the Triceratops Spin.

We had a little bit of time to spare before the 11:00 Finding Nemo show, so we went to meet some characters & I’m so glad we did!  I’ll never forget the excitement on the boys faces seeing their first characters at Disney!

Up next, Finding Nemo- The Musical!!!  We got to the show 30 minutes before it started & scored some awesome seats.  Dude LOVES Finding Nemo.  He acts out the movie every night in the bath tub, so I knew he would love the show.  It was way cool.  Even Rudy, who hates musicals, enjoyed it!

After the show, we ate lunch at Flame Tree BBQ and then left the park around 12:30 for naps! Whether taken in the stroller or in the hotel room, naps are a must at Disney.  We learned this the hard way on day 3:)
We left the hotel around 3:00 and headed to Epcot!

We had fast passes (FP) for Turtle Talk with Crush, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and Soarin'!
Turtle Talk with Crush is a 15 minute audience participation show.  It's cute, but the boys were a little too young to participate & get the humor!

After crush, we rode Under the Seas with Nemo & Friends.  A little more age appropriate!

We browsed the aquarium & then went to Club Cool to try cokes from around the world.
Dude likes free cokes:)
We had a little time to spare so we hopped on Journey into the Imagination with Figment & then fed the ducks.  Feeding the birds was one of buddy & dude's favorite things about Disney.  Go figure.  I bet I heard, "I need to go feed dem birds" 99 times while at Disney.

We rode Soarin' using FP and rider swap (the boys weren't quite tall enough to ride)  This was Sarah's favorite ride.  It was, yeah you guessed it- COOL.  You "fly" over different scenery and even get to smell things like pine trees as you fly over them.  It is a MUST and a FP is a MUST.  The stand by line was over 2 hours long.  It took us around 30 minutes for the adults to ride using FP!  It was the longest wait at Disney, even with the FP.
Sarah had the boys playing games to keep them still:)

After Soarin' we headed over to Coral Reef for dinner reservations at 6:40!  It was probably my least favorite of all the table service restaurants.  It was good, but not near as good or cool as T-Rex!
Rudy's liked his octopus though...
Dude thoroughly enjoyed his cupcake.  That and a roll was his only nutrition for the night.
After supper, Rudy headed back to catch the Saints game and we stopped by the Epcot Character Spot.    It wasn't on our itinerary, but the sign said it only had a 10 minute wait.  I'm so glad we stopped because we were the only ones there & got to spend a lot of time with each character!

Spaceship Earth had no lines, so we hopped on it too!  It turned out to be one of my favorites.

Then, it was back to the hotel for much needed baths!
First day at Disney = SUCCESS!!!  All our planning, scheduling, & research payed off.  It was MAGICAL!

FYI: Touring Plans predicted the overall crowd levels to be 8 out of 10 on this day.  Our FP were for Turtle Talk with Crush 3:00-4:00 PM (they weren't needed though), Under the Seas with Nemo and Friends 4:20-5:20 PM, and Soarin' 5:20-6:20 PM, and dinner reservations at Coral Reef were at 6:40 PM.
